The biggest and southernmost municipality in Vorarlberg
In the district of Bludenz, Gaschurn is located – one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Vorarlberg. It’s where pristine nature meets top-notch and modern accommodation options – and one of them is Sporthotel Silvretta Montafon.
The Verwall range to the right-hand side, the Silvretta to the left-hand side, and the river Ill in the middle of the two. With 175 square kilometres, Gaschurn is the biggest municipality in Vorarlberg and forms the southern end of the Montafon valley. It’s located right at the foot of the Piz Buin, which is – with 3,312 metres – the highest mountain of the westernmost federal state. Furthermore, the municipality, which also encompasses the town of Partenen, is located at the hiking and ski resort of Silvretta Montafon.

Take a break! How about at one of the four Alpine Association huts: the new Heilbronner hut, the Wiesbadener hut, the Saarbrücker hut or the Tübinger hut? The Versettla cable car near the town centre of Gaschurn takes you up the mountain and closer to your adventures in nature – in every season.
Silvretta-Bielerhöhe: worth an excursion year-round
The Bielerhöhe amidst the Silvretta is an exceptional destination for an excursion year-round! How about high-alpine fishing, a mountain bike tour or a walk around the Silvretta reservoir pond in summer? Skiing , ski touring, winter and snow shoe hiking or cross-country skiing on the frozen reservoir pond – there are also lots of activities you can do in winter in Gaschurn.
Good to know: In summer, you can reach the Bielerhöhe via the breathtaking Silvretta High Alpine Road – in winter, with the tunnel taxi of the Vermunt cable car in Partenen.
Directions to utter holiday joy in Vorarlberg
From Bludenz, Gaschurn can be reached within 25 minutes by car via the Montafoner Straße. Alternatively, you can take the Montafonerbahn train from Bludenz to Schruns and then the public “mbs” bus. A valuable tip for summer – if you want to enjoy some incredible scenic views: the route from Landeck via Galtür and the Silvretta High Alpine Road. It takes about an hour and a half.
