The Montafon gets the nod for a top sporting event in Vorarlberg
The FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships are coming to the Montafon!
The World Championships will be organized by the ÖSV in cooperation with the host Ski Club Montafon, the communities of the valley, the province of Vorarlberg, Montafon Tourism and the Montafon cable cars. According to Roman Kuss of the ÖSV, the aim of the World Championships is to provide a strong impetus for winter sports. It is a matter of "bringing children back to the mountain," said Kuss. Manuel Bitschnau, Managing Director of Montafon Tourism, described the World Championships as a "milestone" for Montafon. The award would be a confirmation of the region's winter sports competence.

"The venues are to be distributed throughout the valley," said Jürgen Küster, mayor of Schruns and representative of the eight municipalities.
The municipalities had considered the application very carefully and finally decided in favor of the major event.
Sports regional councilor Martina Rüscher (ÖVP) described the application as a "courageous initiative", which is not only important for economic and tourist motives, but also has a role model effect for young people.
This is the biggest winter sports event ever in Vorarlberg.
