The seasons at Sporthotel Silvretta Montafon
Active throughout the year in Vorarlberg
Be it in spring, summer, autumn or winter: The year at Sporthotel Silvretta Montafon is active and diverse. Deciding on when to go there isn’t easy – since each season has its own charm and particularities …
A pleasurable spring
Spring at the Silvretta Montafon resort is an exciting time of transition. Until April, winter sports fans swoosh down the slopes. Then slowly nature awakens from its hibernation. Ski slope or hiking trail? The choice is not an easy one – and always depends on the weather, of course.
And when it comes to culinary highlights? Cosy vintner evenings and creative journeys around the world are on the menu in spring.
A hiking-rich summer
In summer, it’s high time to head out of the hotel and up the mountains! The days are long, sunny and warm and, thus, perfect for extensive hikes and mountain bike tours. It’s best to start early and enjoy some traditional Austrian delicacies at a hut during the hot midday hours.
The Silvretta High Alpine Road is a must in summer as well! And so is playing golf at Vorarlberg’s highest located golf course. Afterwards, you can jump into the water with the whole family – for instance, at the “Mountain Beach” adventure pool in Gaschurn.
A colourful autumn
When the days are getting shorter, you know that slowly but surely summer is coming to an end. Now, nature in the Montafon shows a new array of incredible colours – the perfect setting for a nice walk in fresh autumn air. There’s hardly a better time to enjoy some peaceful moments in the Montafon.
Autumn is also the season of a centuries-old tradition: the Alpabtrieb – when the cattle is ceremoniously lead down from the mountain pastures into the valley. Celebrating the end of a work-intense year with the farmers while tasting all kinds of regional delicacies? Fresh butter and aromatic cheeses on freshly baked farmhouse bread … Sounds good, right?
An action-packed winter
Adventure and thrill characterise winter in the Montafon – at least, at Silvretta Montafon, the sportiest ski resort. It’s one of the top destinations for skiers and snowboarders , but especially for freeriders. If you prefer something a little slower-paced, then how about a winter hike or snow shoe hike? A family excursion to one of the many natural toboggan runs is also lots of fun for winter fans of all ages.
